Profile page

As a socio-legal scholar trained in the social sciences, I am interested in deploying social scientific research methods to understand how legal systems operate in practice. In particular, I am interested in understanding how legal categorizations in the field of migration and borders help to sustain, reproduce and reconfigure inequalities along lines of race, class and gender. Some of the methods I deploy are ethnographic observations, interviewing, critical discourse analysis, and (limited) legal analysis. I am interested in combining methods, which I believe helps us attain a fuller and more textured understanding of the operation of law in practice.

Venturing into the field of qualitative research methods can be challenging. Most of us run into a host of practical and ethical dilemmas. If you are looking for someone to talk to about your project, I would be more than happy to meet.
